Optical ‘magnetic mirror’ metasurfaces using interference between Fabry-Pérot cavity resonances in coaxial apertures
Here we propose and computationally demonstrate a quasi-planar metasurface consisting of arrays of pairs of concentric coaxial apertures in a metallic film. The structure relies on destructive interference between Fabry-Pérot modes excited in each aperture at resonance producing transmitted fields that interfere destructively leading to suppressed transmission. Conversely, we show that in the c...
متن کاملMeasurement Technique Using a Fabry-Perot Cavity
A high precision measurement technique for characterizing the propagation loss in silica low-loss optical waveguides, based on measuring the contrast of a Fabry-Perot cavity, is demonstrated. The cavity consists of the waveguide coupled to two polarization-maintaining fibers, each end facet coated with dielectric mirrors, leaving the reflectivity as an adjustable parameter. The contrast is meas...
متن کاملFinesse and mirror speed measurement for a suspended Fabry-Perot cavity using the ringing effect
We here present an investigation of the ringing effect observed on the VIRGO mode-cleaner prototype MC30. The results of a numerical calculation show how a simple empirical formula can determine the cavity expansion rate from the oscillatory behavior. We also show how the simulation output can be adjusted to estimate the finesse value of the suspended cavity.
متن کاملSelf-referenced composite Fabry-Pérot cavity vapor sensors.
We develop a versatile, self-referenced composite Fabry-Pérot (FP) sensor and the corresponding detection scheme for rapid and precise measurement of vapors. The composite FP vapor sensor is formed by etching two juxtaposed micron-deep wells, with a precisely controlled offset in depth, on a silicon wafer. The wells are then coated with a vapor sensitive polymer and the reflected light from eac...
متن کاملRadius Measurement of Spherical Surfaces With Large Radii-of-Curvature Using Dual-Focus Zone Plates
The measurement of spherical surface radii exceeding few meters presents a challenge, because the familiar radius-bench method requires large part displacements. Dual-focus zone plates can extend the radius-bench method to measurements of large radii. OCIS codes: (220.4840) Testing, (050.1965) Diffractive lenses
